MRC Ltd has extensive experience in the production of Modern Standards Safety Case documentation including Hazard Analyses (HAZANs) and Staged Safety Case documentation (PSR, PCSR, PSmSR, POSR and COSR)

As part of this process the following techniques and methodologies are utilised:

Hazard Identification, a fundamental part of the safety case process, techniques used include Hazard and Operability Studies, Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA), Fault Schedules and Abnormal Incident reviews.

Design Basis Accident (DBA) Analysis to provide a robust demonstration that the engineering design and assigned safety systems are fit for purpose and ensure that the level of potential risk associated with the plant or process is managed proportionally.

Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) to quantitatively analyse the risk associated with faults, techniques comprise Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Event Tree Analysis.

ALARP Assessments to demonstrate that the derived risks are not only low, but are driven as low as reasonably practicable

Reliability Analysis to establish the potential and likelihood of plant failure, FMEA and FTA techniques are used to determine whether reliability targets, and Safety Integrity Levels for CE&I equipment, are achievable and input to maintenance regimes.

Periodic Safety Review to enable a comprehensive study of plant safety, taking account of operational history, ageing factors and the advances in safety standards since the time of construction or the previous review.

In addition Marsh Risk Consulting is able to provide Human Factors experts specialising in the nuclear sector
